We are proud to spotlight Chief William L. Tokajer of the Holmes Beach Police Department, a dedicated law enforcement leader whose commitment to community safety and well-being spans over 45 years. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Chief Tokajer’s journey in law enforcement began with the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer, where he developed a strong foundation in security and service. Inspired by his grandfather, who served as an Auxiliary Officer, Chief Tokajer was motivated from a young age to follow a path of public service.
As Chief of Police, Chief Tokajer prioritizes the safety of the residents, visitors, and businesses in Holmes Beach. He is dedicated to ensuring his officers have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively. Under his leadership, the Holmes Beach Police Department has achieved a remarkable 78% reduction in crime over the past eleven years, a testament to the hard work and professionalism of his team.
Chief Tokajer is also deeply committed to community engagement. He enjoys interacting with residents while patrolling the area on his four-wheeler, fostering strong relationships and building trust within the community. His long-standing involvement in various boards, including serving as president of Manatee Children’s Services for over 30 years, reflects his dedication to the well-being of youth and families in the region.
Looking to the future, Chief Tokajer is excited about the agency’s ongoing project to achieve state accreditation, which will further enhance the department’s standards and practices. Outside of work, he cherishes spending time with his wife, Thea, and their family, which includes two daughters and six grandchildren.
Chief Tokajer’s message to the community is simple yet powerful: “We are here for you.” His leadership, dedication, and extensive experience exemplify the qualities that contribute to the safety and resilience of our community.
As we celebrate Chief Tokajer’s contributions, we encourage everyone to support our local law enforcement and stay engaged with the vital work they do. Together, we can foster a safer, more connected community.
