A Proud Moment for Manatee County

Earlier this year, we were thrilled to share that Manatee County and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office had been selected to host the prestigious 2025 United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) National Field Trials, held from November 9–14. Now, we’re proud to offer a heartfelt congratulations to the entire MCSO team for a job incredibly well done.

Hosting a national event of this magnitude is no small feat—and our community rose to the occasion.

The weeklong event brought together top K9 teams from across the country to showcase their skill, training, and professionalism through rigorous competition in areas such as obedience, detection, and protection. These trials not only highlight the incredible bond between handler and K9 partner but also represent the very best of public safety, teamwork, and community engagement.

We are especially proud to share that MCSO’s own Lt. Jeremy Bertolino & K9 Vinnie placed 3rd overall nationally, with 1st place in Obedience, while Deputy Kyle Chavers & K9 Tyr earned 10th overall, including 2nd in the Searches category. In addition, USPCA Region 1, which includes Manatee County, took home the top title in the Regional Team Competition.

Lt. Bertolino and his team deserve special recognition for their leadership in organizing this weeklong event. Their efforts showcased not only the talents of K9 law enforcement professionals but also the welcoming spirit and hospitality of Manatee County.

To the many volunteers, sponsors, and community members who made the event possible and to those who attended the competitions and demonstrations—thank you for supporting this important moment for our region.

The Manatee Hundred Club congratulates all participants and winners, and we commend the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for their ongoing excellence and dedication to law enforcement and public service. You’ve made Manatee County proud!
