A Historic Event for Law Enforcement and K9 Teams
We are thrilled to announce that Manatee County will be hosting the 2025 National Police K9 Field Trials! This prestigious event, taking place from November 9th – 14th, 2025, will showcase the very best of law enforcement canine teams from across the country. As part of the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA), the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office will be at the forefront of this exciting event, drawing together K9 teams from various regions to compete for the title of National Champion.
For those unfamiliar, the USPCA is the oldest and largest police K9 organization in the United States, having been training and certifying police dogs since 1971. The USPCA’s training and certification process is recognized nationwide and is upheld by over 78 U.S. Supreme and Federal District Court rulings as the “Bona-Fide” test for police use. This rigorous certification ensures that the K9 teams you see working at airports, train stations, and on the streets are some of the most highly trained and skilled teams in the country.
The USPCA tests police dog teams in various areas including General Patrol Dog use, Tracking, Protection, Narcotic Detection, Explosive Detection, Arson, Fish and Game, and Search and Rescue. With a wide diversity of breeds like the German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Labradors, and even Bloodhounds, these incredible dogs and their handlers are on the front lines of keeping our communities safe.
Each year, the nation is divided into regions where K9 teams compete and those with top scores are invited to attend the National Police Dog Field Trials. This event, hosted by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in November 2025, will determine the National Champion.
